About
Changes in the ecological ecosystem and awareness of the public to the pressing issues of global warming has accelerated the need for new initiatives and creative approaches to the design, development, production, shipment and sales and marketing of products in many industries.
The growing awareness and demand by the mass market for sustainable and eco-friendly production lines, has led many tech and fashion companies to open innovation departments, led by chief sustainability officers with the focus on developing creative solutions that could effectively integrate the sustainability value within their workflows, brand identity and products.
Nike, who promotes sustainability as part of its brand's values, uses and develops a variety of tools and approaches to promote this value and integrate all throughout the lifecycle of their products both internally and externally, while maintaining the core DNA of the company. And has set it as a core goal and challenge for the next decade.
By learning about the organizational structure of Nike, along with interdisciplinary content centred best practices in the field of sustainability, students who will take part in this internship will develop a variety of solutions that promote the value of sustainability within the production and distribution cycle of the company's products and processes.
Students who will join this internship will work in interdisciplinary groups centered around one of the following themes -
1. Virtual display - how might we bridge the gap between the physical and the digital to avoid overproduction or shipment?
2. Sustainable packaging - how might we create reusable, zero waste or multipurpose packages?
3. Defective products - how might we develop the sorting / shiping / recycling of defective products?
4. Communicating sustainable values - developing sustainability centred content experiences for physical shops.
